Principal's Update
April 8th, 2024
I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. Today was the first day of our final quarter of the school year, which is hard to believe. On Friday, your student will be bringing home a Quarter 3 Progress Report, so please look for it in their backpack. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher with any questions or concerns you may have regarding the report.
Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. As always, I truly appreciate your partnership and the support you provide for all of us at Redtail Ridge!
With gratitude,
Mrs. Yetzer

Attendance Matters
We place a high priority on attendance, as it directly correlates with student achievement. We are working hard to track absences, communicate trends, and support families in their efforts to engage children in learning. However, we acknowledge that keeping students home when ill is one of our greatest mitigation strategies. With this in mind, we are looking to partner with families to keep students in school whenever possible. You can find our Student Attendance Policy on the district website.
Please be sure to call the attendance line if your child is or will be absent from school for any reason. If a student's absence is not reported to the school, it will be recorded as unexcused in Infinite Campus. For safety reasons, our building admin. assistant, Jean Deutsch, will then be required to call a parent/guardian to determine the absence reason for the student. Please call the attendance line at 952-226-8001 to report any absences.
Third quarter attendance letters will be coming out in the mail this week. Students will receive a letter if they have missed 10% or more days this school year. This letter is informational and meant to keep you up to date as to the status of your child's attendance.
Call our Dean of Students, Adam Brandell, at 952-226-8058, if you have any questions or concerns about your child's attendance.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is over flowing! Some of our 5th grade students have organized it and put it upstairs outside the office. Please have your child look through it for any items you are aware of that have not made it home. If any parents/guardians would like to come in and look through our Lost and Found, please feel free to come in between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm. On Thursday, April 25th, any items remaining will be bagged up and donated to a local charitable organization.
3rd-5th Grade MCA Testing
Redtail Ridge third, fourth and fifth grade students will be taking the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) beginning at the end of this week. It is very important that all of our 3rd-5th grade students are present for these tests, so plan your appointments accordingly. We also ask that your student gets a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Please see the schedule below.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or Keri Kuboushek (kkuboushek@plsas.org ).
2024-2025 School Year
We are already beginning to plan for the 2024-2025 school year. If you know your student will not be returning to Redtail Ridge, we kindly ask that you notify Keri Kuboushek, our Lead Administrative Assistant either by email kkuboushek@plsas.org or phone (952)226-8004. This helps us with student numbers and sections of grade levels.
We work very hard to create classrooms that are balanced in a variety of ways. Below is a class placement form that you may fill out to share what type of teacher or environment that would be best for your child. We ask that you do not request a particular teacher by name. If your family had a teacher in the past that you think would be a great fit, you can name that teacher but there is no guarantee your request will be granted due to balancing each classroom. You can also request a copy from our school office to be sent home with your child if you are unable to access the one below.
Please make sure these are turned into the office no later than Friday, May 17th!

On Thursday, March 21st, twenty of our 4th and 5th grade Redtail students participated in a district-wide Caring Conversation. World Savvy was there and students had the opportunity to provide input that will help guide our district's Strategic Plan.
Caring Coaches
Our 5th grade Caring Coaches have been going into classrooms to help teach a variety of social skills that individual classrooms are working on. Here are few examples of some of the skills our Caring Coaches are teaching:
- Transitions
- Perspective taking
- Difference between on purpose and an accident
See the pictures below of our Caring Coaches teaching a lesson on 'Active Listening' to a 1st grade class. It's really fun to see how our younger students love learning from our older students!
